Company History
In 1911, Industrias la Vasconia became the first aluminum and stainless steel factory in Mexico. Vasconia continued to prosper throughout the 20th century, even during a long recession caused by the Mexican Revolution in the 1920s.
In 1991, Vasconia and its primary competitor, Ekco, joined forces to emerge as the pre-eminent supplier of cookware in Mexico.
Several years later, in 1996, Ekco began exporting to the U.S., Central and South America.
The company initiated a joint venture with Bialetti Indusries S.P.A. four years later, founding the most modern, vertically integrated cookware manufacturing facility in America.
Continuing its growth, Ekco opened new offices in Argentina in 2005, enabling the company to offer Vasconia-branded cookware competitively to the South American market.
In 2007, Ekco purchased IMASA, its largest competitor, and also partnered with Lifetime Brands to offer authentic Hispanic cookware, utensils & gadgets and cutlery under the Vasconia brand to the U.S. market.
